I want to add my name to the letter sent to you in support for Jeff Schmidt by the readers of Physics Today.

Accusing someone of using his office time for writing a book on the conditions of the profession, if this was his offense, is nonsense. It is no more justified than reproaching him of using his out-of-office time and private time to work on his editorial duties, which happens all the time and every day.
